Installing A New Bathroom Fan
Install the decorative plastic grille by slipping its mounting wires into the available slots in the housing unit.
Installing a new bathroom fan. Switch off the power at the fuse box. If the fan comes with a paper template use the template to mark the intended location of the fan in the ceiling. Remove the existing fan leaving the old duct work and wiring.
For a fan and light switch with existing wiring splice the white wires and connect the grounds securely with wire. Measure the ceiling opening and determine if it is large enough to accommodate your new fan. Attach the aluminum elbow to the exhaust port photo 6 and the duct liner to the elbow.
If not you must cut around. Connect power to both switches through two pigtails spliced to the feed wire. Align the fan with the new drywall hole.
Cut the interior opening for the bathroom fan from below use the stud finder to locate the joists in the bathroom ceiling and lightly mark with a pencil. Follow steps 3 10 of the new construction installation to complete. Turn the power back on and test your new bathroom fan to make sure it s working.
